Protecting Information Online

Whether you are a member or just visiting us online, we safeguard the information you provide to us at langleyfcu.org. How we use and protect this information is described below.

General Website Pages

We collect and store information on the domain you use to access our website, the Internet address of the site from which you linked directly to our site and the date and time of your visit to our website. This information is used to measure the number of visitors to the various pages on the Langley site; to help the credit union make improvements to the information contained on the site and to better serve our members through special marketing and service programs.

Member-Only Website Pages

We do not automatically capture information in an attempt to identify personal email addresses or to gain unwarranted, confidential information about the user. We do use technologies that identify you when those technologies allow us to serve you better and with greater security. For instance, Langley uses "cookies" (a process of storing information) on Langley Online Banking, our online account access service, as required to protect the privacy of our members' transactions and to help guide our members through the various services. A "cookie" is a small text file placed on your hard drive by our web server.

These cookies do not collect personally identifiable information, and we do not combine information collected through cookies with other personal information to determine who you are or your email address.

Cookies are commonly used on websites and do not harm your system. By configuring your preferences or options in your browser, you determine if and how a cookie will be accepted.

We also offer online applications to our members for new or additional services. Any personal data or account information that you provide, either through online application or Langley Online Banking, is encrypted in transmission for security.

Google Analytics

Many websites and apps use Google services to improve their content. When they integrate Google services, these sites and apps share information with Google. We use Google Analytics to better understand how users are visiting and using our sites. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. You may review further information about how Google Analytics collects and processes data and how to control the information sent to Google at “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” at www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.
