Not sure what's the difference between a credit union and bank?

Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives dedicated to improving members' lives. As a credit union member, you're also the owner. There are no outside stockholders. Credit unions exist to provide the best service possible to their members — not to churn profit for stockholders by charging high fees.

Credit unions are governed through an unpaid, volunteer Board of Directors. These volunteers are members of Langley and are democratically elected by the credit union membership to represent the credit union member.

All savings are federally insured to at least $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. Government Agency. Each member gets one vote at the Credit Union, regardless of how much that person has on deposit.

Must be 18 years or older to join. Must have joined after January 27, 2025. New members must deposit $5 into a Langley Savings Account to open an account. Offer available for new accounts opened online only. Website form on this page must be filled out prior to opening membership, online. To qualify for the $100 Cashback+ credit, members must: 1. register for and log in to Digital Banking and 2. Spend a minimum of $50 using Langley debit card within 45 days of account opening. Debit card transactions must be a minimum of $5.00 per transaction. The $100 Cashback+ credit will be applied to the new member’s checking account within 28 business days after all qualifications are met. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotional offer including the Member Referral program. Offer limited to one per member. Offer does not extend to membership opened in branches or over the phone. Present employees, volunteers, and affiliates of Langley Federal Credit Union and immediate family members of present employees, volunteers, and affiliates of Langley Federal Credit Union are ineligible to enter. “Immediate family member” means a spouse, domestic partner, child, grandchild, parent, grandparent, or sibling (including adoptive, in-law, and step-relationships).
