Langley Federal Credit Union Grants $125,000 to 14 Non-Profit Agencies

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – (February 5, 2021) – Langley Federal Credit Union granted $125,000 to 14 non-profit agencies throughout Hampton Roads in the first quarter.

Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia, one of the organizations to receive a grant, brings wish kids renewed hope amidst the uncertainty and fear of receiving a critical diagnosis. Research shows that children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness.

“We are beyond grateful for Langley Federal Credit Union’s unwavering support and commitment to granting wishes that bring lasting hope to children and families in the communities they serve,” said Kiley Elward, regional development officer for Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia.

Make-A-Wish has always been committed to ensuring that no child waits even one unnecessary day to experience the hope and joy that a wish brings, and they have remained steadfast in their mission through the challenges of COVID-19.This grant will fund two pending wish requests in Newport News.

Hampton Roads Pride also received $5,000 to support the 2021 virtual Pridefest. The 2021 PrideFest Series Events will offer live-streamed and pre-recorded educational outreach programming, panel discussions, inclusive virtual connection events, and VIP in-person events that adhere to public health safety guidelines.

In addition to Pridefest events, Hampton Roads Pride provides year-round educational programming promoting inclusive communities, distributes meals to those in need, and awards scholarships to the next generation of innovative LGBT leaders.
